Together We Fight

The Republic of Concordia is a conglomeration of human and demi-human nations. While these nations have a wide variety of diverse governments and interests, they are currently united against the military threat of the Valrath Dominion, and the ever-spreading Blight – a mysterious disease that is plaguing the land. Despite a shared motive of survival, the nations within the Republic are not necessarily unified in methodology and frequently experience infighting.

Origins

Concordia was founded with the overarching philosophy “a home takes more than one builder.” Hundreds of years ago, a human trader by the name of Albert Rosewell settled his caravan down in a large field by a river and decided that his last trade had been made — to use his accumulated wealth for peace and prosperity . What started as Rosewell’s small cabin quickly became a village, then a town, then a burgeoning city serving as a pitstop for weary merchants and travelers. Rosehaven City, named after its founding citizen, continued to grow well beyond his passing. The democratically formed government held true to the ideals of its founder, taking in any and all that would need shelter or wished to stay and build something new.

In the modern era, as the Valrath Dominion’s expansionist ambitions threaten to engulf the continent. The Republic of Concordia rose as a united league of nations, determined to protect what remained of the free nations. Rosehaven now serves as the capital of this Republic as a symbol of solidarity against the looming darkness.

Some of the factions within the alliance include:

  • Dresden is a country built upon the marvels of human engineering. Through scientific technologies, rapid boosts in productivity and industry led to a flourishing community. It also resulted in one of the most powerful militaries on Elyrion, managing to stand toe-to-toe with the Valrath Dominion. Tanks, automaton mechs, aircraft, and aetheric shield technology proved to be enough to empower a human soldier to take on enhanced vampires and demons.

  • Sanctum – A new and growing religious faction born in the wake of the primal angel Seraphiel’s divine descent, a beacon of hope for those desperate to believe that the Blight can be banished and the Valrath Dominion can be repelled. Revered as a living deity, Seraphiel, the Herald of Light leads this movement, her radiant presence shaping the faith and fervor of her followers. At her side are the Thrones, an elite host of angelic guardians, and the Templars, a fanatical army of knights. Unlike the fractured councils of Concordia, Sanctum thrives under the direct leadership of Seraphiel herself and her followers come from all parts of the nation.

  • Segovia is a nation of demi-humans forced into diaspora by the conquering Valrathian armies. Seeking safety and a future, the populace soon pledged itself to the Republic, finding protection within the alliance. Segovian society thrives on resilience and kinship and consists of a diverse set of cultures from the Fenrir, Nekora and Leporin. Many Segovians serve in the Republic’s ranks with the desire to reclaim their ancestral homeland.

  • Thornwill Grove, a remote expanse of forests near the Verdant Shroud, has long served as a battleground for ambitious prospectors seeking its rich natural resources. The Sylvan tribes who dwell there have traditionally shunned human affairs, clashing with industrialists who encroach upon their ancient forests. Yet the advance of the Valrath Dominion has left them in an uneasy truce, bound by the necessity for survival.

Other minor nations — The vast parcel of land connecting these allied nations is also included within the perceived sphere of Concordia’s influence. It includes scattered cities and peaceful participants in the vast trade network of Concordia.

Ideals

  • Common Enemy - The separate nations within Concordia are united in their mission to defend against not only the Valrath Dominion, but also the looming Blight.

  • Wealth of Nations - Economic prosperity is brought on by unified trade agreements, allowing each nation to specialize in their preferred professions. This leads to a much faster rate of technological growth, with specialists pushing the boundaries of engineering, healthcare, and construction.

Military

Concordian strength comes from the faction’s ability to work together as a unified group. Although there are many different races, cultures, and technology levels, the citizens all understand that the mission at stake is far greater than any individual. Dresden’s powerful vehicles and mechanical suit technology pose a powerful advantage that can elevate any citizen into a potential soldier. With a full-fledged army, navy, and air force, the collaborative strength of the Concordia military is hard to out-strategize.

Individuals are encouraged to volunteer and train for Concordia’s armed forces, especially now with the Valrathian threat looming at the border. Many suspect that all-out war is on the horizon, despite assurances from the Vampire Lords of Valrath that they would not strike Concordian lands.

Concordia also draws upon the divine might of the Sanctum, a militant faith bound to the primal angel, Seraphiel, the Herald of Light. Her Templars, an army of fanatical knights armed in sanctified aetheric plate, are powerful elite soldiers that can cut through swaths of enemies with their blades. Her most elite regiment are the Thrones, angels blessed by Seraphiel and wielding powerful aetheric magic. While they operate under a separate command structure, their presence is seen as a divine blessing and a morale boost to any Concordian soldier in the battlefield.

Policing forces from both Valrath and Concordia exist in the free-city of Vespera as a bi-lateral treatise towards maintaining free trade. As an independent entity however, both super powers have tried to exert influence upon the politics of the city, but to no avail.

Only United Will We Stand a Chance

As a large unified swath of land, the Concordian nations wield a great amount of influence in global politics. What was once a scattered array of independent countries and city-states have unified into a military super-power. But the question still stands – will it be enough to ward off the encroaching Blight? And will the glue that bonds their countries hold strong in the face of impending doom?
